The Boston Globe

Suzanne Kreiter joined the photography staff of The Boston Globe in 1985.  During her 32 -year career as a photojournalist, she has traveled extensively and covered events ranging from the Nicaraguan civil war to pollution behind the Iron Curtain to the deforestation of the Amazon rainforest. In 2007, Suzanne was awarded the American Society of Newspaper Editors (ASNE) Community Service Journalism Award for her photo column, The CitySeen, that chronicled Boston’s less visible characters. In 1992, Suzanne was awarded the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award for Outstanding Coverage of the Problems of the Disadvantaged for her photo essay illustrating the disparate lives of a group of mentally disabled adults living in a group home and those living in a large institution. Suzanne originated the Boston Globe’s first photo column in 1996 with a two-year project in which she documented the daily travails of the Boston Police. Suzanne has been twice recognized as the  Boston Press Photographer’s Association Photographer of the Year.  She started her career at the Concord Monitor, in Concord, N.H.
