Sonny Kleinfield is a freelance writer, who worked for 40 years at The New York Times as a feature writer. Before that, he spent five years at The Wall Street Journal. He has written eight non-fiction books, and contributed stories to Harper’s, the Atlantic, Esquire, Rolling Stone and The New York Times Magazine. His article, “The Lonely Death of George Bell,” was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in 2016. He has won the George Polk Award, the American Society of Newspaper Editors Award, the Ernie Pyle Award, the Meyer Berger Award, the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award and the Gerald Loeb Award.
