Ann Marie Lipinski

Nieman Foundation
Ann Marie Lipinski is curator of the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard, overseeing its fellowships, programming and portfolio of publications, including Nieman Lab, Nieman Reports, and Storyboard--a showcase for exceptional narrative journalism and exploration of the future of nonfiction storytelling. She previously served as editor-in-chief of the Chicago Tribune, where she won a Pulitzer Prize for investigative journalism. Under her stewardship, the paper became a leader in public service journalism that freed innocent prisoners from death row and brought about the state's death penalty moratorium. While she was editor, the Tribune won Pulitzers in international reporting, feature writing, explanatory reporting, editor writing and investigative reporting. She is the former vice president for civic engagement and senior lecturer at the University of Chicago. She is past co-chair of the Pulitzer Prize Board and was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
